1. About this policy

This policy explains what personal information Classic Charters collects when you use our website or deal with us, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and your rights.

Classic Charters is the trading name of Classic-Charters.com Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 06525480, registered office Pharmacy Chambers, High Street, Wadhurst, East Sussex, TN5 6AP. We are the controller of your personal information. ICO registration number: ZA809719.

2. The information we collect

• When you enquire, using the forms on this website, by email, by phone or by message: your name, email address and phone number, and what you tell us about the trip or yacht you are looking for, such as dates, number of guests, destinations, style of yacht, budget, the yacht you asked about and your message.
• When you charter or buy a yacht through us: the details needed to arrange it, such as the names of the people travelling, contact and billing details and, where a yacht, port or country requires them, passport or identity details, which we also use for the identity checks we make before a yacht sale (know-your-customer checks). If you tell us about dietary needs, allergies or medical conditions so the crew can look after you, we treat this as sensitive information and use it only for that purpose, with your consent.
• When you sign up to our newsletter: your name and email address, and whether you open our emails and click their links, so we can see what readers find useful.
• When you visit this website: our own analytics records how the website is used, such as the pages visited, the device and browser, an approximate location (town or country) and how you arrived. It is run for us by Datafly Ltd, which manages this website, and sets no third-party cookies; we look at it in aggregate to improve the website, not to identify you. It is on unless you switch it off with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page.
• From others: yacht owners, central agents and other brokers may pass us details about your booking, and if one person books for a group, they may give us details of the other guests.

3. How we use it, and our legal basis

Data protection law requires a legal basis for each use of personal information. Ours are:

• Reply to your enquiry and find yachts for you: steps you ask us to take before a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
• Arrange and manage your charter or yacht purchase: performing our contract with you, and legal obligations such as accounting and tax records, and anti-money-laundering checks on yacht sales.
• Pass dietary or medical information to the crew: your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Send you our newsletter and offers: your consent or, for past clients, similar offers you can stop at any time; every email has an unsubscribe link.
• Understand how the website is used (our own analytics, with pseudonymised statistics passed to Google Analytics for our reporting): our legitimate interest in improving the website. UK law allows analytics used only to produce statistics without asking first, as long as you are told and can switch it off, which you can at any time.
• Measure our advertising, if we advertise online: your consent, given in the cookie banner.
• Keep records and deal with any legal claims: legal obligations and our legitimate interests.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share only what is needed, with:

• yacht owners, captains, central agents and other brokers, to check availability and arrange your charter or purchase. As yachts sail worldwide, many of them are outside the UK;
• companies that provide services to us under contract: Cloudflare, which hosts this website and receives the enquiry form; Resend, which delivers enquiry form messages to our inbox; Google Workspace, our email; Google, which receives pseudonymised statistics for our Google Analytics reports; Zoho Campaigns, which sends our newsletter and keeps its mailing list in Zoho’s UK data centre; Datafly Ltd, which builds and manages the website and runs our own analytics (Datafly Signal) on servers in the UK; and our accountants and professional advisers;
• authorities when the law requires it, such as port, immigration or tax authorities.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Some of these companies, including Cloudflare, Google and Resend, are based in the United States, and Zoho is part of an international group; they may process information outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK’s data bridge with the United States or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

When we pass your details to a yacht or agent abroad to arrange the charter or purchase you have asked for, the transfer is necessary to provide it.

6. How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: 2 years after our last contact.
• Charter and sale records: 6 years after the charter or sale, for tax and legal reasons.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep only your email address, so that we do not email you again.
• Our own analytics (Datafly Signal): not kept. Signal passes each visit’s details on as they happen, to Google Analytics, and stores no copy.
• Google Analytics: 14 months.
• The website does not store the enquiries sent through its forms: each one is delivered to us by email and kept for the periods above.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it (including stopping marketing at any time), and pass it to you or another organisation in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; browser storage works in a similar way. This website uses what it needs to work and our own analytics, and nothing else unless you agree:

• Necessary: remembering your cookie choice, and whether we have already offered to find you a yacht or to send you our newsletter. These are always on and do not identify you.
• Our own analytics: counts visits and measures how the website is used, run for us by Datafly Ltd. On unless you switch it off.
• Third-party analytics: measurement tools run by someone else that set their own cookies, such as Google Analytics, only if you agree.
• Advertising: we do not use advertising cookies at the moment. If we start, it will only be if you agree, and we will list them here.

When you first visit, the website asks for your choice; until you make it, only the necessary storage and our own analytics run. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page; if you switch something off, we delete its cookies. The fonts on this website are served from the website itself, so loading them does not send your information to anyone else.

9. Other websites

This website links to other websites, such as yacht builders and partners. This policy does not cover them; please read their own policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the way we use personal information changes. Last updated: 24 October 2026.
