Desiderata has graceful lines and elegant classic style. She is the only remaining vessel afloat that was constructed to John G. Alden’s 1945 Malabar XIII design – called “The Last of the Malabars”. The ocean-racing design excelled when Alden competed in the 1948 Bermuda Race and 1951 Transatlantic Race.
Look past her breath-taking beauty and find fully modernised amenities; she has wi-fi throughout, USB charging points in every cabin, and a 32″ plasma screen on which to recap classic regatta moments. Desiderata had an extensive interior and exterior refit in 2013, before embarking on her new adventure as a classic charter sailing yacht.
To compliment Desiderata’s enthralling history and exquisite style, the highly experienced owner-operators, Stuart and Julia, offer premium sailing charters and the opportunity to race in classic regattas in the Caribbean such as the famous Antigua weeks in April. Their fun-loving nature, and passion for Desiderata, is only rivalled by their enthusiasm for fine dining and entertaining guests with the delicious haute cuisine.
In 2014 she will be cruising the Caribbean in the winter months and then for the summer she will be based in New England, USA. She will be back in the Caribbean for the winter 2014/15 and is considering coming to the Mediterranean for the summer.
