AMERICA was built in 1965 for James L. Knight, Miami Herald Publisher and philanthropist. Its proud succession of owners, included noted yachtsman Joe Bartram, has kept AMERICA on a rigorous maintenance schedule and upgrade program. Now owned by Theordore B. Conklin, owner and proprietor of the American Hotel, she is available for charter our of Eastern Long Island in summer and coastal and southern climes in winter.

AMERICA sleeps six in three staterooms, each of which feature en suite bathrooms with commodious shower and lovely appointments. The master stateroom is queen-bedded, provides dressing drawers and two large closets. Guest staterooms accommodate two guests each. They are distinctive, cozy, functional and comfortable, decorated with antique and historic prints and 19th Century marine paintings. Her huge foredeck offers the ideal spot to read, sun bathe or just take in the spectacular views of the New England coast.

From her home port of Sag Harbor, New York, AMERICA is based in some of the finest cruising waters on Earth and offers the perfect venue for catered cocktail, luncheon, or dinner parties, wedding cruises, corporate retreats, and unique sport or destination-oriented excursions. If your schedule doesn’t permit a return trip, we can even arrange for a pickup by seaplane. For a populated area near a major city, it is rare indeed to be able to cruise past the pristine landscapes of Mashomack and Shelter Island, Barcelona, Cedar Point and Gardiner’s Island. Block Island and Fisher’s Island are within a few hours, as is the spectacular Connecticut shoreline and Narragansett Bay.
